2010 Easter Cake Off

The 2nd annual Easter Cake Off was bigger and tastier than last years competition.  There were 6 cakes last year to choose from and this year it was expanded to 11! That's a whole lotta cake, however we have a big enough family (that absoluetly loves cake) to handle 11 cakes.  Everyone seemed to step it up this year compared to last year. As you willnotice in the pics a lot of thought went into some of these cakes. Of course, all of them were good but there was a tie for the best tasting this year!! Enjoy the pics!

      The contestants:

Dan won Best overall and tied for Best Tasting
Ardie tied with Dan for Best Tasting
Tim won Tastes better than it looks
Tina won Looks better than it tastes and Best Looking
Annie and Emily won Most Creative

Until next year.............

Just a little late....

Yep, so I have not kept up on my blogging like I said I would do.  Numerous things have prevented me from sitting down and blogging and playing but Im doing a little better now that Im a little caught up again...whew!!

Will and Wyatt continue to grow by leaps and bounds, but I believe that it is their vocabulary and thier appitites that are doing the most growing right now!  I have to say that I am lucky though, I have a Dad that ranches and gives me free meat to keep these boys fed which is so incredibly helpful when we get requests for hamburgers and steak everyday.  Cant say I dont blame them, Drew is such a good cook that I want his burgers and steaks too!!  The boys are also good salad eaters.  Tonite at dinner they ate so much salad and asked for more that I was afraid they wouldnt eat their dinner.  But I'm not complaining, at least they like their vegetables!!

Back to their vocabularies, Will comes up with the greatest sayings anymore and they make us laugh quite a bit.  Wyatt has started to repeat what Will is saying and is also learning new words.  He is so funny because of the expressions that he puts with the words that he is saying.  The one thing about Wyatt though is that most of the words that he knows how to say (and that we can understand) are food related.

A couple of weeks ago, I took the boys, my nieces and Ann to the Watiki Waterpark here in town.  Wyatt only liked the hot tub, and Will loved the lilypad things that are under the swing rings in the activity pool.  Both boys did pretty good while we were there, they wouldnt play in the kiddie pool play area at all unless someone forced them to go in there, but overall 3.5 hours later, I had some pretty tired boys!

Of course we would have a picture at the pool of Wyatt eating, because that is all that the kid does is eat.
We also were invited to come and visit Auntie Laura's 4th grade classroom as Laura's show and tell.  Will was so excited to get to go to school that he was beside himself.  The only thing that could have made things better would have been if he could have rode a bus there.  (he does tell me every morning that he wants to ride the "short" bus to school. There have been many discussions about this bus situation) Anyways, they both had a ton of fun meeting all the kids in the classrooms and Will was in heaven having so many "big" boys around to hang with.  He told me he cant wait to go to school.  I sure hope he keeps that enthusiasium!
Here are some pics from that day, Will looks so big and ready for school that some of these pics made me sad to think he will be there soon enough!

For the last week I have been working on some engagement photos that I took the 14th and they turned out awesome.  As the editing has taken up some of my time, the rest of my time has been trying to keep Wyatt from escaping out of our dog door into the back yard and then climbing the fence to get out of the back yard. It is amazing how fast he is!  We have also discovered that Wyatt is trying to potty train himself.  Which is perfectly fine!  He apparently has been watching Daddy go because he insists that he stands up.  He has to stand on his tippy toes to get into the toilet bowl and then he feels the need to swish it around while he is going.  He hasnt spilled yet so that is a good thing.  It is so funny to watch him and so cute all at the same time.

We went out to my Dad's house last weekend so that Will could see the baby calves since he is in cav'in (Tally!) right now.  Will saw them and goes "Mom those baby calves are "DISGUSTIN".  They were all fine but for some reason he thought other wise.  I had asked him later in the day if he knew that his Grandpa Ronnie was a cowboy.  He said No and then changed his mind and said Yes.  He told me that Grandpa is a "Naughty cowboy, and that them cows are gonna kill him!"  I thought to myself, that he is probably right those cows probably will kill my dad somehow or another!  He thinks those baby cows are pretty cool right now, oh the innocence!!!

Other than this stuff we have just been trying to keep the house clean, the boys from killing each other, and going to or listening to Rush games.  Still pretty busy!!  We are soooo looking forward to our vacation in North Carolina 1.5 weeks.  It is much needed that is for sure.  Well enjoy the pics, Im sure there will be more to come!!!!

My Challenge

So I decided to challenge myself to a 90 day challenge to take a picture every day. Doesnt matter what it is about, but I have to take a pic and then sometime on the weekend I will edit 6 or 7  pics that I took (old or new) and post them on the blog. I might even throw in a few oldies that I may have re-edited or played around with. I just need to get myself going again with my photography and need to show my work off somewhere to get my creativeness flowing. Lucky You (whoever is reading this)

I know that you will probably see a few pics of the kids on here but I am going to broaden my horizons to a few new things. Im trying to blog more so there may be updates after the pics that I have posted so make sure to scroll down. Here are a few old pics that I have worked on to get me started and get me motivated. Stay tuned!!

These are some old ones, but some of my favorites.  This is to get me started and I will try to add some new ones soon!

Videos

Trying to see if these will post!

The latest...

One week later and here I am,  Yea! However, we will see how long this lasts! I thought I would post some of the funny videos of hte kids on this one along with some new pics from today.

One of the videos is of Wyatt trying to sing along with George Strait's "Trubador".  He tries really hard these days to sing along, although he knows none of the words, either way it is cute to see the faces that he makes.
Another one is of his awesome dancing skills.  If he can combine the two, (singing and dancing) we might have a superstar on our hands!

Today we decided to try the skating thing again and see how the boys would do. I think that Drew has hopes of a hockey star in one of our boys, and we might but they need to learn how to skate first. We took the kids to Mcdonalds first as a treat and they were so excited to go inside nad eat for once.  In fact when Will asked me for my cheeseburger over his chicken nuggets, he says to me "Mama, this is the best ever!"  I found that funny until Drew took him to the bathroom.  A little background first... Will is really into the show Wonder Pets right now and they have an duck on there that always says that their problem is serious.  Will and Drew are in the bathroom and Will finishes and the toilet is an automatic flush.  When it flushes all by itself Will looks at Drew and says "This is serious"! We thought that was pretty funny. We had some time to kill so Drew mentioned that we could go honk the horn on the semi at the Ice plant.  So we took the kids down there and let them "honk the horns" on a few of the trucks.  I think that they both were in heaven.  It so funny to see how something so simple can bring such excitement to little kids.  We didnt so that very long since it is still cold here.  I ususally like the cold and the snow, but even I am ready for the warm weather.  Please come soon, I need to kick my kids outside again!

Sorry back to the activities of the day, so after this we go skating.  Will had been protesting going skating all day and didnt want to do it.  After we got there and got going he was doing ok.  He started out with a walker until my niece, Mady got him to ride on it while she pushed.  Mady is a hockey player and can skate extremely well so we thought she could help Will learn to skate.  Yeah he wouldnt go with anyone but his mama.  He was better though until they cleared everyone off the ice and brought out the zamboni. He wanted to leave but decided the "bamboni" (as Will was calling it) was cool and then decided he wanted to skate again.  Wyatt had fallen asleep right after we started skating and Grandma Ann had come long to have some fun, but Wyatt wouldnt let her out if his sight,he decided she had to hold him the majortiy of the time.  When Will went out again, he had found a smaller walker and had then decided that he wanted to skate all by himself.  So we let him and he did pretty good. Skate time was almost over so we left and then Will had a melt down becasue he wanted to go swimming so I told him maybe next weekend, only if mom finds a suit by then!
Here are some pics from our "best ever"trip to Mcdonalds, Honking the horn and skating again today.  Enjoy.....

I cant get the videos on here but I will keep trying!!!
